The Berkeley Ensemble return to the Greenbelt Festival with dancer and choreographer Jo Meredith to present a workshop and concert exploring the theme of travelling light through music and movement. The evening concert is preceded by an afternoon workshop.

The ensemble perform the first three movements of Beethoven’s Septet and join the Ibstock Place School Orchestra for a variety of pieces for full orchestra, following an afternoon workshop with the school’s young musicians and conductor Nicholas Cleobury.

On the 27th May Lachlan, our double bassist, appeared live on Radio New Zealand where he discussed life as a musician in London as well as the New Cobbett Prize with presenter David Morriss. Also broadcast were tracks from the new album – the New Zealand radio premiere of Michael Berkeley’s Clarion Call and Gallop and the last movement from Ferguson’s Octet.

Dartington International Summer School, Totnes, Devon
The ensemble make their first trip to the Dartington International Summer School, at the invitation of oboist Nicholas Daniel. Sarah Bennington (flute), John Slack (clarinet), James Turnbull (oboe) and Andrew Watson (bassoon) offer wind players of all abilities a supportive and informative workshop environment, in individual instrumental classes, in which to improve technique, hone performance skills and discover new repertoire.
