Samuel Barber Summer Music
The Berkeley Ensemble makes its debut at St. John’s Smith Square with Barber’s Summer Music, by turns languid and energetic, and which recalls both Gershwin and Stravinsky. Alongside, mid-20th century quintets by Gunther Schuller and Elliott Carter are interspersed with works for solo players, completing this all-American survey of music for winds.
