Berkeley Success in ROSL – March 2009

On the 13th March, we performed in the final of the Royal Over-Seas League Ensembles competition along with Majestic Brass, the St James Quintet and the Hybernian Trio. Having performed extracts or movements from works by Hindemith, Ferguson and Casken in earlier rounds, we faced our biggest challenge in the final with the humorous scherzo from Francaix’s Octet, the slow movement of Ferguson’s Octet, and the Finale from Schubert’s Octet. Narrowly missing out on the prize, we thoroughly enjoyed our performance and there was a great atmosphere in the Princess Alexandra Hall.

Concert Promoters Network - March 2009

The Berkeley Ensemble has just been selected by Making Music Concert Promoters’ Committee to appear in the Concert Promoters’ Network Brochure for 2010-2011. The Network allows voluntary concert promoters to book a wide range of artists and ensembles at a discounted rate, and gives groups such as us exposure to promoters and performance opportunities across the country.
