This summer the ensemble will be packing our bags for return visits to the King’s Lynn festival and Lake District Summer Music. Our concert at the former features the premiere of a new piece by Tim Watts, The Creation of the World, and with Dr Matthew Bothwell from Cambridge University’s Institute of Astronomy on hand to discuss the links between music and astronomy with the composer before our performance, this promises to be a fascinating afternoon.
In Ambleside, meanwhile, we present an ingenious programme that tracks links across continents and centuries, taking in a diverse selection of composers from the Viennese Schubert, Johann Strauss II and Schoenberg to Martinů and Prokofiev.
