Conway Hall: Dohnányi & Brahms
Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL
The Berkeley Ensemble join forces with pianist Simon Callaghan to perform Dohnányi’s Sextet. A singularly impassioned piece – the first written for the unusual combination of piano, string trio, clarinet and horn – it is impetuous, exciting, and colourful, but rarely performed. Berkeley Ensemble clarinettist John Slack is kept especially busy in this programme, with two much-loved works for Clarinet Trio completing the programme.
Mozart: Kegelstatt Trio, K.498
Brahms: Clarinet Trio, Op.114
Dohnányi: Sextet, Op.37
