Chamber course goes online

Due to lockdown restrictions, this year’s chamber course went online for a morning of workshops with participants and John, Gemma and Sophie.

Faced with the cancellation during lockdown of our trip to Hull to perform Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, John went online to perform live Abîme des oiseaux, the movement for solo clarinet. Catch it again here.

New Beethoven recording released

With celebrations already in full swing to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven this year, the Berkeley Ensemble joins the party with the release of our latest album, an all-Beethoven programme of his Op.11 Clarinet Trio and the famous Septet Op.20.

Somerset doing its thing magnificently this morning for the final day of the @BerkeleyEnsembl chamber course. 20 amateur musicians descend on this beautiful village each year; for 4 days music pours out of every window & across every field. Friendships are renewed, smiles abound.
