The Berkeley Ensemble presents a portrait of the composer Frank Bridge to mark the seventieth anniversary of his death. Over a career spanning the first half of the twentieth century, Bridge charted a unique and fascinating journey from the sunny and elegant charm of his early Novelletten to the intensely personal and rarefied sound-world of his second piano trio.
Described by The Daily Telegraph as ‘in a class of his own’, pianist James Baillieu and mezzo soprano Lilly Papaioannou join the ensemble to perform songs by Bridge, completing a portrait of this most remarkable and surprising of composers.
